Lewis Hamilton wins the 2008 German Grand Prix

Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton wins the 2008 German Grand Prix with a magnificent display of performance beating Heikki Kovalainen, Felipe Massa and Nelson Piquet in the final stages to win a thrilling Formula One race at Hockenheim.

Mclaren’s Lewis Hamilton was leading all the way before dropping to the fifth place with 16 laps to go, he was able to grab back the lead with his masterful driving eight laps later.

With the victory, Lewis Hamilton does now have a four point cushion over Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and seven points ahead of Kimi Raikkonen also from Ferrari. This also marked Hamilton's second straight victory, his fourth of the season and the eighth of his career in 2008 Formula One Calendar.

In the current Championship Standings in Formula One, Lewis Hamilton now has 58 Championship points, followed by Ferrari’s Felipe Massa with 54 at second spot and Kimi Raikkonen has 51 to go in third.

A big crash involving Timo Glock brought the safety car out but Hamilton, who was leading, opted not to take a pit stop and as a consequence was relegated to fourth after he pitted later in the race.

However, Hamilton used his superior pace to overtake Heikki Kovalained, Massa and Piquet to score the victory. Robert Kubica's BMW team-mate Nick Heidfeld was fourth, while Sebastian Vettel took the final points position for Toro Rosso. David Coulthard had to settle for 13th following a collision with Honda's Rubens Barrichello, who retired after the incident. Jenson Button was the last finisher in 17th.
